A first! Wheat beats white in bread battle. For the first time, dollar sales of whole-wheat bread are higher than dollar sales of white bread. According to Nielsen, sales of whole-wheat bread increased 0.6% in the 52 weeks ending July 10 to $2.6 billion, while white-bread sales declined 7% in the same time period to $2.5 billion.
